Our small town, along with the surrounding farms and community, creates a peaceful and friendly atmosphere. In recent years we have witnessed some population growth as more and more people become enriched by the small pleasures and joys of Bridgeville.
Our history-inspired stories continue because of the contributions of previous residents and of their fond legacies, and because of the current residents who have discovered the charm and warmth of our town in its motto: "If You Lived Here, You Would Be Home Now…Delaware's Front Porch." We encourage all to share their enduring legacies in our home town and surrounding area celebrated as Bridgeville, DE.
Join us as we travel together through the wealth of history that we have before us!
The Fire House Museum
Built in 1911 as Bridgeville’s first fire house, this structure of locally-made brick was purchased by the Society in 1977 to serve as its museum. No entrance fee.
Located on the corner of Delaware Ave. and William St. this land was purchased by the Society in 1983 for a park complete with bandstand. It was later named “Cahall Park” to honor Lawrence M. Cahall, III, a benefactor.
The Davis Building
In 1996, a tenant house from the Davis Farm northwest of Bridgeville, was donated to the Society by Dale Wheatley and moved to Cahall Park.
The mission of the Bridgeville Historical Society is to collect, preserve, and share the history of Bridgeville, Delaware, and the northwest quadrant of Sussex County, Delaware, in order to educate present and future generations.
